Purgatory Reign is one of those books that takes you by surprise. I have to say that I am truly amazed by how this book turned out. I loved the cover and I loved the blurb so I went into reading it with loving it already and then by the end of chapter one I was hooked. I mean I was so hooked I could not put it down and it took me six hours to read it.

Peter Saint has had a rough life. His parents were murdered right in front of him and then he holds a person in his arms as they die. What more could get worse for him? Peter now lives in an Orphanage and his adopted father protects him from all the evil that is lurking in the world that wants to destroy him. But Peter is no saint because he sneaks out of the orphanage every night and on one of those nights he watches as a girl gets hit by a car and she leaves him with something. Not sure what to do he goes back to the orphanage and tells his adoptive father. They decide that Peter and his side kick Angel whom he picked up on one of his trips will go to another sanctuary to stay safe.

If things could not get any worse Peter keeps having these night visions of things that are evil and trying to get to him. He is not sure what to make of them but the longer he is on the run the more the visions get descriptive for him. The evil wants him for something very special but Peter is not going to give the evil what they want. On the run with Angel Peter starts to piece together what is happening and he is not going to give the evil what it wants. He is determined that they will have to kill him before he unleashes that kind of evil into the world.

Peter knows that his time is ticking down but after unraveling every thing he has to make a decision that will not only effect him but his love he is a little nervous. Peter knows the wrong decision could mean life or death for a lot of people. What will Peter do? Who will he chose?

This book is an adventure packed action book!!You will learn along with the characters of what is going on. It is a book that left me on the edge of my seat throughout it. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS BOOK!! I adored the character interactions especially between Kyle and Peter, they were funny. I'm excited to find out who else will join their merry crew!! The story is wonderful and it flows at a fast pace with little down moments to help you catch your breathe. This is the second book I read by this author and I'm intrigued and anxious waiting on the next book in this awesome series. I just hope it gets here soon!! If you love angels and demons, you will most assuredly love this book!!

This book is about Peter Saints who is in an orphanage run by an ex-military man who keeps them sheltered. Peter sneaks out one and and his world is shattered. He becomes submerged in this world he has no idea existed and to keep from drowning in danger he has to embrace the unknown. Along the quest, he runs into other members of the order that run with him to keep from winding up DEAD!! Who is after them? What is the Order of Grace that everyone is talking about? Is he going mad?
I give this book 5 stars because it is a terrific read!!

Summary
Seventeen-year-old Peter Saint's life stinks, but things are about to get much worse. First, his parents are murdered in front of him. Then another victim dies in his arms. Visions plague Peter with warnings that something wants him for a sinister cause. It desires the one thing that Peter refuses to give - his blood. Peter carries within him the one gift or curse that could unlock a secret to destroy the human race. On the run with Angel, a scruffy kid, Peter starts to unravel the mystery. It's the one treasure the heavens sought to hide from the world. Unfortunately, when Peter finds the answer he hopes that will save the one girl he loves, he opens the door to a great evil that happens to be salivating to meet him.
Social/Historical Context
We have always been fascinated by the stories of demons being unleashed on our world from hell and possessing humans for their evil intentions. PURGATORY REIGN is really such a book, though with a unique twist. In the midst of this mayhem stands a boy who must get his wits together if he is to defeat these unearthly creatures and send them back to wherever they came from.

Writing Style
Written in the third person, PURGATORY REIGN somewhat speeds up after Peter is marked by Hanna, who then dies from an auto accident. The story follows the boy and his enemies as they go about trying to carry out their devilish plans while he warily tries to keep ahead of them. The editing could do with some polishing, though, and the action scenarios played out in the book's pages appear very awkward in some instances, but the narration trudges on despite these snags and a resounding climax is noted at the end of the book.
My Thoughts
I found it a bit difficult to read due to the snags I noted above, but I must say that the story is a decent one and our protagonist learns a good lesson at the end of it all.
